The idea to launch Love Restored first came to us after we painted an old dining table in Annie Sloan Chalk Paint. When we finished the table, we marvelled at what we had created and Nadia turned to Lorraine and said, “Wouldn’t it be great if we did this for a living?”
It was from then that our hobby turned into painting for family and friends and in 2013 we took on our first little workshop and while still working part-time, it soon became apparent that we wanted our own creative High Street shop.
Nadia has extensive experience in retail and has a natural creative flair and this is supported and matched by Lorraine who supports and manages the business behind the scenes on its journey, a perfect pairing together.
In our time, we were finalists in a national competition called Test Town which was about regenerating High Street’s, we were part of a successful creative hub called the Arts Hub by the Sea and became New Business Startup Finalists as Local Hero’s with Kingdom FM. Our creative determination paid off with our first shop in Kirkcaldy’s High Street and soon we became Annie Sloan Chalk Paint Stockists being hand chosen and trained by Annie Sloan herself in Oxford and we still sell Annie Sloan Chalk Paint to this day.
Over the last 5 years, we ourselves have trained over 500 people with our successful Love Restored workshop in the techniques of using Chalk Paint and those have gone on to empower themselves and create their own furniture masterpieces for their home. We have also trained with The Traditional Painters and have established ourselves as specialists in the field of hand painting furniture and painted luxury bespoke handmade kitchens and can use varying types of paint finishes, such as Paint and Paper Library, Farrow and Ball and The Little Greene Paint Company.
To add to this amazingly colourful story our work has been featured in magazines such as Style at Home and Homemaker and have worked collaboratively with Rachel Henderson of Rachel Henderson Studios, Textile Designer, Author and TV personality as well as Joanne Caira, Instablogger for @thehomethatjomade, Property Developer and Home Stager. More recently Rachel Henderson's lovely house Little Blair came 3rd in the finals of Scotlands Home of the Year 2019. Click here to watch the episode and see the lovely heart of the home kitchen we painted for Rachel.
This back story is an amazing accolade for our little business and although we have grown beyond our original dreams we are still dedicated to sharing our knowledge and experience in hand painting furniture and we have now opened our own Creative Workshop and Painting Studio in the lovely countryside just north of Kirkcaldy on the site of the Cluny Country Store. Here we invite people to try our varied mix of creative workshops which include the exclusive Annie Sloan Chalk Paint workshops and we are able to offer free colour consultations and colour mixing, so you get the best advice. We also transform and create stylish and unique pieces of furniture for the public and for other commercial businesses. We are also proud to work with charitable organisations too in helping them train people in the benefits of using paint to be creative and sustainable.
We are hugely grateful to all who have supported and worked with us over the last 5 years. We love dearly all our social media followers and customers, who constantly inspire and encourage us to continue on our journey and we hope that we continue to inspire and help others to create a home that is special to them.
